Centrale Sanitaire Suisse Romande (CSSR) – English
The Centrale Sanitaire Suisse Romande (CSSR) is a Swiss association based in Geneva, which supports those who fight for a fair society and a better access to health care in Southern countries.
Since the beginning, CSSR is a militant and committed organisation. It was created during the Spanish civil war, in 1937, when a group of doctors and nurses provided medical aid to the republican victims. Later, the organisation also took care of the civilian victims of various conflicts and humanitarian crisis, for instance in ex-Yugoslavia and Vietnam.
Its action is based on three main axes: maternal and child care, community rehabilitation and humanization of health care. It currently works in Bolivia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Palestine.
In Switzerland, the CSSR provides information to its members about public health and the current situation in countries where it works, e.g. reports, publications, events and a quarterly newsletter.
